On Saturday, August 31stt, I’ll be playing at a benefit for the John Engle Christian Counseling Center. The event starts at 7:00pm and will last until 9:30. The Eddie Gilbert Band will hit the stage somewhere around 8:30 so make sure you stop by and catch the set.
This night of Praise and Worship is going to help raise money for the John Engle Christian Counseling Center, who’s mission is to provide hope and help to the hurting through expert clinical counseling and educational/support groups from a Christian perspective. The center also runs other ministries such as; Mending Hearts, a group for grieving children and their caregivers. Third Option, a marriage enrichment group for folks struggling w/problems in their marriage, and Pearls, a women's group, at the local homeless shelter.
The benefit is at the Vineyard Church in Hamilton, Ohio. Again we hit the stage around 8:30, so stop out and see us.

So I wrote a song two weeks ago called, Whisper My Name. I wrote it specifically for a special Creative Arts Worship service. Since writing the song, I’ve been playing it for people and the song seems to have taken on a life of its own. Everyone seems to be able to relate to the realness of not quite being where we need to be in our relationship with God.
The song is written from a story about Elijah in the book of 1Kings. Elijah had just killed the prophets of Baal and was now running for his life because Jezebel was hunting him down. Elijah left his ministry and headed down a road that he didn’t need to be on. The journey was so out of the way that God had to provide food for him. When Elijah finally stopped at the mountain of God, God asked “What are you doing here?” He told Elijah to wait in the mouth of the cave and the presence of the Lord would pass by. As the wind, earthquake and fire came, the presence of the Lord was not in them. Finally a small still voice came through and whispered his name – “Elijah, what are you doing here?”
Elijah was sent back the way he came to go and finish the work that God had for him.
So many times we feel alone and discouraged on our journey with God’s work. Sometimes we need to listen for that small still voice and let God whisper our name.
